Horsham Racing some of the best yet !!!

The Yamaha Victorian Off Road Championship travelled to Horsham in North Western Victoria last weekend for round 6, the Cross Country on Saturday and round 7, the Enduro Sprint on Sunday.


The Yamaha Victorian Off Road Championship travelled to Horsham in North Western Victoria last weekend for round 6, the Cross Country on Saturday and round 7, the Enduro Sprint on Sunday.

The organizing Club, the Victoria Police Motor Sports Club, were blessed with perfect whether conditions to run this highly regarded must do event as part of the Victorian Off Road Championships.

The cross country run on Saturday ran the full format of the GNCC series as run in America with 9 laps nomiated before the start to run out at 3 hours and 10 minutes for the winners. The course, ran through grassy undulating river flats made perfect after recent heavy rain, it was sure to bring out the best in the top riders. A 3 hour long battle between the the top 2 cross country riders had the crowd on their toes from start to finish. Jehi Willis First Class Husqvarna, and Todd Stephenson Hands On Kawasaki, were no more than 100 metres apart for the entire three hours with the lead changing numerous times over the 9 lap race. Jehi Willis with many more years of experience over Todd managed to hold on for a great win by 13 seconds. Mitch Harper, Alpine Motorcycles Yamaha another young fit challenger managed his first podium in third place, 6 minutes behind Willis.

The following day Sunday took the format of a 6 round enduro sprint course with the course divided up into 3 individual circuits. Overnight rain delighted the New Zealand rider Jason Davis who lead early in the day thriving in the wet conditions. As the course dried out top expert rider Danial Milner Christensen Yamaha gave notice to the spectators that he is also rising to the challenge taking out an incredible outright win by 11 seconds over Todd Stephenson coming second again. Even more remarkable was expert rider Chris Davey giving notice by taking third outright ahead of national seasoned riders.

Todd Stephenson now leads the Yamaha Victorian Off Road Championships.
